Workforce Education and Diversity

According to the Miliken’s New Economy Index, Colorado ranks first in the nation in the percentage of residents who have college and graduate school degrees.

In 2000, Parker conducted a study of area residents to gain insight into the local workforce. Here are some of the results:

• 87% of Parker households have at least one wage earner and 85% have at least one full-time wage earner.

• An estimated 12% of the area’s households have at least one adults who is not currently working and would be willing to work at least part-time if the right job were available in Parker.

• 85% of Parker wage earners are employed in white-collar jobs, including 64% in high level occupations (professional, managerial or technical). While area wage earners work in a wide variety of industries, 31% work in jobs or industries that could be considered "high tech."

• 84% of the area workers have had at least some college. Sixty-one percent are college graduates and 19% have post-graduate degrees.

• 90% of the workforce is under 55 and 61% is under 45.
