According to the Miliken’s New Economy Index, Colorado
ranks first in the nation in the percentage of residents who have college
and graduate school degrees.
In 2000, Parker conducted a study of area residents to gain insight into the
local workforce. Here are some of the results:
• 87% of Parker households have at least one wage earner and 85% have
at least one full-time wage earner.
• An estimated 12% of the area’s households have at least one
adults who is not currently working and would be willing to work at least
part-time if the
right job were available in Parker.
• 85% of Parker wage earners are employed in white-collar
jobs, including 64% in high level occupations (professional,
managerial or technical). While area wage earners work in
a wide variety of industries, 31% work in jobs or industries
that could be considered "high tech."
• 84% of the area workers have had at least some college. Sixty-one
percent are college graduates and 19% have post-graduate degrees.
• 90% of the workforce is under 55 and 61% is under 45.
