Roadway Capital Improvement Projects

Cottonwood Drive Widening

(Work consists of widening Cottonwood Drive between Jordan Road and Cottonwood Way intersections)

Construction on the project is underway with much of the new Cherry Creek bridge (south of the existing bridge) being completed over the winter and spring. The lane widening is moving along with paving operations planned for late July. The overall project is anticipated to be completed in late-2021.

Parker Road Sidewalk Project - South

(Work consists of installation of a multi-use trail/sidewalk on the west side of Parker Road between the Twenty Mile Road intersection to the Hess Road intersection with a spur to the Cherry Creek Trail)

This project has been awarded and is planned to start in July with a late-fall completion date. The Town has received approval for partial State multi-modal funding for this project.  An intergovernmental agreement (IGA) was approved by Town Council in October of 2020 to solidify State funding.  

Summerset Lane Extension Project

(Work consists of extending Summerset Lane east of Pine Drive)

Construction of the roadway project is complete.  Installation of the proposed traffic signal at the Pine Drive/Summerset Lane intersection is on hold until the intersection meets minimum Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) warrant analysis requirements.

Motsenbocker Road Widening

(Work consists of widening Motsenbocker Road from the Clarke Farms subdivision to the Todd Drive intersection)

The roadway project is complete. The Town median irrigation/landscaping project is complete as are both shoulder landscaping restoration/installation projects.

Kings Point Way

(Work consists of construction of Kings Point Way between Cottonwood Drive and proposed Aurora Parkway)

Kings Point Way is a proposed collector roadway on the east side of Parker Road (State Highway 83) between Cottonwood Drive and proposed Aurora Parkway (located in Arapahoe County). The project was substantially completed in the summer and the Town is currently working to close out this contract. The roadway will remain closed until adjacent development occurs.

North Parker Road Operational Improvements

(Work consists of traffic and multi-modal operational improvements on Parker Road (State Highway 83) between Lincoln Avenue and E-470)

Preliminary design for the project is complete.  A project kickoff meeting with CDOT was held on 6/4, and the project is preparing to enter the final design phase.  Intergovernmental agreements (IGAs) to codify State, Federal, and County funding for the project will be brought Town Council for consideration in August.  

Chambers Road/Grasslands Drive Traffic Signal

(Work consists of installation of a mast arm traffic signal at the Chambers Road/Grasslands Dr. intersection)

Project is complete.

Jordan Road/Cottonwood Subdivision Mid-Block Pedestrian Crossing

(Work consists of installation of a mast arm pedestrian beacon/traffic signal on Jordan Road between the Sandreed Circle and Apache Plume Drive intersections)

Beacon is operational.  

Motsenbocker/Hess Intersection Improvements

(Works consists of improvements at the Motsenbocker/Hess intersection and widening south)

Design on the project has been completed and is out for bid with construction anticipated to commence in the fall of 2021 and be completed late in the year.

Southwest Parker Road/Mainstreet Improvements

(Work consists of turn lane widening at the southwest corner of Parker Road/Mainstreet)

The project is underway and should be completed by early fall.

Responsive Signal System Expansion

(Work consists of installing 7 new count stations and monitoring equipment, as well as creating new Traffic Responsive control signal programming.)

Design complete. Working with CDOT on IGA for funding.  Expect public bid of project in summer 2021, fully operational by spring 2022.

Nate’ Drive Reconstruct

(Work consists of removal of concrete surface and replacement with composite section, including base and asphalt surface.  Remove and replace damaged curb, gutter, & sidewalk. Update all pavement markings and signage to current standard. Limits of work are Hess Rd on the north and J Morgan Blvd on the south.)  

Work started Monday April 05.  Project is 40% complete with west side base and asphalt in place, currently working on east side of Nate performing reconditioning and base import.  

 Downtown Circulation Improvements

(Work includes pedestrian safety and circulation improvements on Victorian Drive and Mainstreet. The project also includes a traffic signal at the Mainstreet/Victorian Drive (west) intersection.)

The project is out for bid with an anticipated completion date of late-2021.

Parker Road Sidewalk - East Side Connection project (w/ped bridge over Sulphur Gulch)

(Work consists of installation of a multi-use trail/sidewalk on the east side of Parker Road from Sulphur Gulch Trail to just south of Parker Square Drive with a pedestrian bridge over Sulphur Gulch.)

Design on this project is underway and the Town has received approval for partial State multi-modal funding for this project. An intergovernmental agreement (IGA) was approved by Town Council in June of 2021 to solidify State funding.  Bidding on the project is anticipated to occur in late 2022, with construction to take place in 2023.

Annual Maintenance Projects

Town-wide Concrete Repair - 2021

(Work consists of miscellaneous sidewalk, concrete pavement and curb & gutter repairs throughout the Town)

Project started May of 2021. Performing concrete remove and replace on local streets.  Project is 5% complete.

Town-wide Diamond Grind and Joint Seal Program - 2020

(Work consists of diamond grinding and joint sealing of the Hilltop Road concrete pavement from Parker Road to Narrow Pine Parkway)

The project is complete, waiting to release retainage.

Roadway Resurfacing Program – 2021

(Work consists of roto-milling and resurfacing Twenty Mile Rd from Mainstreet to Lincoln, Lincoln Meadows Pkwy from Lincoln to Dransfeldt, and Mainstreet from Riva Ridge to east town limit)


Project started June 2021.  40% complete. Mainstreet and Idllywilde resurfacing complete.  Work on Twenty Mile and Lincoln Meadows to commence July 11, 2021.

Town-wide Pavement Preservation - 2021

(Work consists of microsurfacing, slurry seal and chip seal on local, collector, and arterial streets throughout Town

Project started May of 2021.  Project is 90% complete, with minor slurry seal remaining to be completed in September / October 2021.


Asphalt Rejuvenation Program – 2021

(Work consists of applying asphalt rejuvenator to surface to extend pavement life, Cottonwood Highlands and Salisbury Heights)


Project scheduled for August 2021.

 

Parking Lot Maintenance Program – 2021

(Work consists of concrete repairs and asphalt preservation, Parker Police Department, Town Rec Center, Dog Park)


Parker Police Department parking lot work is 90% complete, additional parking lot projects to be completed by October 2021.


Stormwater Capital Improvement Projects

Cherry Creek at KOA

(Work consists of channel and bank stabilization between McCabe Meadows Trailhead Parking lot and Twenty Mile Road extended)

This capital improvement project has been substantially completed and is currently under revegetation monitoring.  Additional revegetation efforts will be employed as necessary until final stabilization and close-out of all permits is achieved.

Cherry Creek at Dransfeldt

(Work consists of channel and bank stabilization from Public Service Company of Colorado transmission lines to a point approximately 2,500 feet south)

This capital improvement project is within the preliminary design phase with final design anticipated through 2021 and construction anticipated for early summer of 2022.

Lemon Gulch at Meadowlark

(Work consists of channel and bank stabilization from Crowfoot Valley Road to the Meadowlark property boundary approximately 1,500 feet east)

This fee-in-lieu improvements project has been substantially completed and is currently under revegetation monitoring.  Additional revegetation efforts will be employed as necessary until permit close-out is achieved.

Lemon Gulch at Looking Glass

(Work consists of channel and bank stabilization from the Looking Glass property boundary west of Crowfoot Valley Road to a point along Lemon Gulch approximately 4,000 feet southwest)

This fee-in-lieu improvements project is currently under construction with substantial completion anticipated by the fourth quarter of 2021.  Additional revegetation efforts will be employed as necessary in the spring and beyond until permit close-out is achieved.

Brandy Gulch at Looking Glass

(Work consists of channel and bank stabilization from the confluence point with Lemon Gulch to a point along Brandy Gulch approximately 2,700 feet west)

This fee-in-lieu improvements project is currently under construction with substantial completion anticipated by the end of the spring of 2021.  Additional revegetation efforts will be employed as necessary in the spring and beyond until permit close-out is achieved.

Green Acres Tributary at Compark Village South

(Work consists of channel and bank stabilization from a Culvert under E-470 to a point along Green Acres Tributary approximately 4,200 feet southwest)

This fee-in-lieu improvements project is currently under construction with substantial completion anticipated in the fourth quarter of 2021.  Temporary and structural stabilization shall be implemented upon substantial completion.  Full stabilization including seeding and plantings will be installed early Spring of 2022 ahead of the anticipated germination window.

West Stroh Gulch at Anthology North

(Work consists of channel and bank stabilization from an existing drop structure immediately upstream of French Creek Loop to a point along West Stroh Gulch approximately 5,100 feet southwest)

This fee-in-lieu improvements project is currently under final design and permitting with construction anticipated for the first or second quarter of 2022.


Jordan Tributary at Bradbury Ranch

(Work consists of channel and bank stabilization from an existing stormwater pond immediately upstream of Mainstreet to a point along Jordan Tributary approximately 3,600 feet north)

This capital improvement project is within the final design and permitting phase with construction anticipated to begin first or second quarter of 2022.

Cottonwood Meadows Tributary

(Work consists of channel and bank stabilization from an existing stormwater pond immediately upstream of Jordan Road to the confluence with Cherry Creek approximately 1,200 feet east)

This capital improvement project is within the final design and permitting phase with construction anticipated to begin in the second or third quarter of 2022.

Cimarron Middle School Pond

(Work consists of structure retrofits and improvements to a regional stormwater pond adjacent to Cimarron Middle School)

This capital improvement project is within the final design and permitting phase with anticipated to begin in the fourth quarter of 2021.

Facility Capital Improvement Projects

Parker Schoolhouse Plaza and Parking Lot Project

(Project consists of renovating the parking lot area between the Schoolhouse and Ruth Chapel into an interactive plaza and reconfiguring and reconstructing the south parking lot)

The project is substantially complete.

H2O’Brien Pool and Building Renovation Project

(Project consists of renovating select aquatic features and equipment and improving the functionality and flow of the facility)

This project is substantially complete.

Recreation Improvements

Auburn Hills Park Project

(Project consists of completing and integrating the 11-acre park that is currently bisected by the undeveloped 210-foot-wide Public Service Company corridor/ROW)

This project is substantially complete.

Jordan Road Under-Crossing Project

(Project consists of constructing an under-crossing along the East-West Regional Trail at Jordan Road)

Construction of Phase 2 is underway and primarily consists of constructing the east half of the concrete box culvert and corresponding utility relocates while shifting traffic to the west lanes. Upon completion of Phase 2, the contractor will begin work on the west half of the concrete box culvert and corresponding utility relocates while shifting traffic to the east lanes. The overall project is anticipated to be completed in late-2021.
